Spectator Information

Join us for the 2021 Subaru Mt. Washington Hillclimb presented by Yokohama Tire (the Climb to the Clouds) for the most exciting race of the year, as 80 cars tackle the 7.6 mile Mt. Washington Auto Road in this historic and thrilling race! With plenty of action from start to finish, on the steep, curvy, and picturesque Mt. Washington Auto Road, spectators of this race will enjoy thrilling race action and breathtaking views of the White Mountains and beyond!

SPECTATOR SCHEDULE

Friday, August 13 — Practice Day 1
8:00am – 12:00pm Practice for all cars
Upper or lower half of the race course (weather dependent)
1:00pm – 6:00pm Auto Road OPEN to the public

SPECTATOR AREAS

YOKOHAMA TIRE FAN ZONE / BASE AREA, PADDOCK ACCESS, & CORNER ONE

Friday, Saturday & Sunday, August 13, 14 & 15

All spectators seeking access to the base area will be required to purchase a ticket to gain access to the field, racer paddocks and Corner One viewing area. For Spectator Shuttle passengers on Saturday and Sunday, the base area wristband is included in the cost of the shuttle ticket.

SIGNAL CORPS

Saturday, August 14 (AM only) & Sunday, August 15 (AM & PM)

Located approximately 4 miles up the 7.6 mile Mt. Washington Auto Road, Signal Corps offers excellent views of cornering action as racers make their way through a series of tight course corners. At 4,000 feet in elevation, there are dramatic views of the northern Presidential Range and into the Great Gulf Wilderness.

Spectator Shuttles will travel to Signal Corps for the morning practice on Saturday, August 14, and in the morning and afternoon on Sunday, August 15. For a half day trip, you will be on the mountain-side for approximately 5 hours. Please be sure to dress in layers and bring plenty of warm clothing!

  • 7:00am — Spectator Shuttles depart for Signal Corps
  • 12:30pm — Spectator Shuttles return spectators to the base after practice has concluded

Sunday Shuttle Service to/from Signal Corps

  • 7:00am — Spectator Shuttles depart for Signal Corps
  • 12:30pm — Spectator Shuttles depart for Signal Corps; AM passengers may return to base or stay on the mountain until the end of the day
  • 4:30pm — Spectator Shuttles return spectators to the base

CRAGWAY TURN

Sunday, August 15 (AM & PM)

Located approximately 5.25 miles up the 7.6 mile Mt. Washington Auto Road, Cragway Turn offers exciting views of one of the most dramatic corners on the Auto Road. At 4,800 feet in elevation there are spectacular views of the Carter-Moriah Range to the east and the Mt. Washington Valley to the south. Pack your cameras and be ready to take in the action around this challenging corner!

Sunday Shuttle Service to/from Cragway Turn

  • 7:00am — Spectator Shuttles depart for Cragway Turn
  • 12:30pm — Spectator Shuttles depart for Cragway Turn; AM passengers may return to base or stay on the mountain until the end of the day
  • 4:30 to 5:30 pm — Spectator Shuttles return spectators to the base

FINISH LINE

Sunday, August 15

Only accessible via self-drive
Cars and pick-ups only — no motorcycles

The Finish Line spectator area is located near the top of the Mt. Washington Auto Road, just below the 6,288 ft summit. Spectators will enjoy the thrill of being a part of the finish line action of this historic event, watching competitors race to the finish at the top of the Northeast’s highest peak! The Finish Line viewing area offers excellent views in all directions, as well as the freedom to explore the summit of Mt. Washington.

Drive Yourself to the Finish Line

  • 7:00am — Toll House opens for Finish Line ticket holders; drivers may begin ascent to summit
  • 8:00am — The Auto Road CLOSES to up-bound traffic — spectators must depart for the summit BEFORE 8:00am!

Do not wait until 8 AM to drive up to the Toll House — if you are still in line at the Toll House at 8:01 AM, you will not be allowed to drive up. All spectators driving to the summit must park in the designated parking area at the summit. Parking or stopping below the summit on race day is strictly prohibited!

IMPORTANT: Finish Line spectators will be required to remain on the summit for the duration of the day. You will not be permitted to depart the summit until racing has concluded for the day. NO EXCEPTIONS! Please plan accordingly.
